Kathrin Schlegel, Säle in frischem und leichtem Schmuck

, 2006

Kathrin Schlegel focuses her attention as an artist on detecting and analyzing the customs, habitual behaviours and often subtle rituals found in contemporary human interaction. Her work deals primarily with those forms of communication between and among individuals when they interact as part of a larger societal community. She examines the modes of behaviour and question in turn their communicative potential and even their validity. Do these actions turn out to be superfacial redun-dant absurdities or, indeed, activities which imbue everyday life with a sense of social meaningfulness?

This catalogue is published on the occasion of the exhibition Säle in frischem und leichtem Schmuck initiated by the Ausstellungshalle für zeitgenössische Kunst Münster.
