Since June 2018, Gerhard Richter's installation Two Grey Double Mirrors for a Pendulum has been on display in the Dominican Church. The Kunsthalle Münster has now invited Dieter Schwarz, an expert on Gerhard Richter's work, to give a lecture in the Dominican Church to talk about the installation. Based on his book Gerhard Richter. Zwei graue Doppelspiegel für ein Pendel in Münster, published in 2021 by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König, the author and curator traces the history of the installation's creation and presents it as a Gesamtkunstwerk in which space and light, silence and movement, architecture and (glass) images, aesthetic experience and scientific research come together. In his lecture, he also situates the installation in the context of Richter's oeuvre, focusing on his mirrors, his image spaces, and the significance of the color grey.

The lecture is part of the exhibition Jelena Bulajić: Untitled (after), which can be seen at the Kunsthalle Münster until March 29, 2026. Like Gerhard Richter, Bulajić also explores the different properties of the medium of painting, its fundamentals and possibilities.

Dieter Schwarz (born in 1953 in Zurich) was director of the Kunstmuseum Winterthur from 1990 to 2017. Since 2017, he has been working as a freelance author and curator in Zurich.
