CreditEvery third Sunday of the month a public guided tour of the Dominican Church is held at 11:30 am and 12:00 pm. The main focus of the tour is on Gerhard Richter’s installation Two Grey Double Mirrors for a Pendulum. Central component of the work is a Foucault pendulum consisting of a metal sphere attached by a long stainless steel cable to the crossing dome of the baroque church, along with a circular scaled base plate made of greywacke from which the rotation of the earth can be read. Flanking the pendulum are two double mirrors that connect in a special way with the building erected in the first quarter of the 18th century according to designs by Lambert Friedrich Corfey. They oscillate between painting, sculpture, architecture and tableau vivant—a picture supplemented by living persons—because everything that happens between these double mirrors is inevitably integrated into the work. Information on the architecture of the Dominican Church and its history is also provided during the guided tour.
