In his works, Mikołaj Sobczak deals with political issues and historical politics, especially with the perspective and lives of marginalised subjects. In his works, Sobczak addresses issues of a new kind of collective identity and remembering culture. With recourse to historical events, but also fictional narratives such as fairy tales, sagas and myths, he expands the narrative patterns of traditional, canonised to instrumentalised history with moments of emancipation. As an artist, he sees the urgent need to tell stories and to interrogate them through permanent reformulation. Leibeigene also takes up the history of the Anabaptists, thus combining a significant chapter in the history of the city of Münster with the exhibition.

In the guided tour, Constanze Venjakob will give insights into Sobczak's artistic positions and invites visitors to engage with the works together.

The guided tour takes place in German.
