Guided tour through the exhibition Jonathas de Andrade: Olho da Rua [Out Loud] and bike tour to Burn the Formwork von Oscar Tuazon with Luca Scholz

At the centre of the exhibition Olho da Rua [Out Loud] is Jonathas de Andrade's film of the same name from 2022, in which Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed meets the streets of Recife, with the public space appearing as a place of community and agitation. For his film, the artist portrayed a temporary community of homeless people living in the city centre of Recife. For Andrade, public space is a place of great power and energy. People test each other on the street, which can be a place for encounters, parties, protests and intimate conversations. The street can be lively and at the same time a refuge for people who have no other space than the public one.

Oscar Tuazon's work Burn the Formwork, which was created in 2017 as part of Skulptur Projekte, also gains significance as a place of community and refuge through the motif of the integrated fireplace. The heat-radiating sculpture, which is almost unthinkable as an official architectural structure within a regulated urban space, has a social dimension. It implies a form of participation that largely eludes regulation.

In the guided tour, Luca Scholz will invite visitors to watch the film together and then provide insights into Andrade's artistic positions. Following the visit of the exhibition Olho da Rua [Out Loud], the tour will continue with a bicycle tour to Oscar Tuazon's Burn the Formwork.
